Use The Right Glasses For Your Bar
If you are setting up a bar in your house, you want to make sure that you have the right glassware for your bar. Different kinds of drinks and cocktails should be served in different glasses. If you want your bar to look its best, then you want to make sure that you have matching glassware, such as Simon Pearce glassware, for everything. So, what kinds of glassware should you have for your bar?
Tumblers
When you go to the bar and order a drink on the rocks or something like Scotch, these are the glasses that you are going to use. They generally have a heavy bottom so that they won't easily fall over. They are also generally used for cocktails like old-fashioneds.
Cocktail Glasses
Cocktail glasses are also sometimes called martini glasses. That's because that's what you generally serve in them. However, they can double as a glass for any cocktail that you may want to serve in them.
Coupe
If you have ever watched old movies from the 1920s and '30s, then you have seen people drinking champagne for a coupe. They are a rounded glass on a stem. According to legend, the original coupes were molded from the breast of Marie Antoinette, but that may or may not be true. If you are looking for a classic way to drink champagne or cocktails like sidecars, then a coupe is going to be your best friend.
Flutes
These days, if you are going to be drinking champagne, then you are more likely to use a flute. Flutes are deeper than a coupe, which will let you have a little more champagne in your glass. They are also better if you are going to make drinks like mimosas where you mix something in with the champagne. Because they are deeper than the coupe, you are going to have more room to work with when you are making your drinks.
Wine Glasses
There are all kinds of wine glasses that you can try. You can get separate glasses for red and white wines, if you want, or you can get a stemless glass which will work for both. Generally, glasses for red wine are wider and rounder than glasses for white wine.
If you are setting up a bar for your house, you want to make sure that you have the right glassware. It may not seem like much, but it can impress any of your guests when you whip out the right glass to go with their drink and that all the glasses match.
